These days, whether it be Jamie Lee Curtis touting the benefits of certain products or other commercials mentioning the health benefits of other digestion products, we’ve been hearing much more about probiotics and prebiotics.  Now, perhaps we know that these are helpful nutrients and that they help support gastrointestinal health, but what are probiotics and why do we need them?  What do they do specifically to support our health?  These are great questions, but to start off we should discuss how our gastrointestinal systems can become, “out of whack”.

Our gastrointestinal systems maintain a sensitive microfloral balance in our bodies to help us function properly and make sure that we don’t notice the work that it does on a daily basis.  For the most part, many of us go about our lives day to day without any notice of imbalance or issues until BOOM!  Upset stomach, trips to bathroom and a handful of other not so pleasant symptoms of G.I. imbalance.  Now, you may be asking how these imbalances occur, and the answer is that there are a variety of reasons; these are just a few:

• Modern day people do not consume anywhere near the amount of probiotics that we used to
• Many eat diets high in carbohydrates and sugars, which can boost the growth of “bad” bacteria
• Antibiotics and other medications can deplete the “good” bacteria
• Antacids can decrease acidity which makes for a less inviting environment for good bacteria
• High stress can also have an effect on friendly bacteria

So what are probiotics?  It’s important to know that not all bacteria are bad; there are literally hundreds of bacteria that are good for humans. These friendly bacteria reside in all humans gastrointestinal tract have been found in foods such as yogurt and Kefir for centuries.  Probiotics support digestive health by helping to keep “bad” bacteria in check thus reducing the toxic by-products that they produce which can cause digestive disturbances.  Additionally probiotics have an important role in nutrient absorption as they help improve the bioavailability of various minerals and other nutrients.  Additionally, probiotics have been associated with many other health benefits such as creation of nutrients and enzymes, supporting immune health, keeping yeast levels in balance and helping to prevent a variety of gastrointestinal disturbances including diarrhea and gas.

In a market saturated with gimmicky products promising to deliver one thing or another, it’s tough to be a smart consumer and pick the right products. 

You all know I’m a product junkie, so I’ve tried practically everything that’s available and done a good amount of research. I was introduced to the Arbonne line of products by a friend who took up direct selling as a way to help supplement her family's income. 

I tried the FC5 shampoo & conditioner based primarily on the way it smelled, as I'm a sucker for anything with a fruity or citrus scent. And I was running low on shampoo at the time, so thought I'd give it a try. The first time I used it I loved the way it smelled but also loved the way my hair felt after washing it. After using the shampoo my hair felt almost "squeaky" clean, as if I could actually feel the old stuff being stripped off my hair. I have used Arbonne products for over 5 years now. 

The  FC5 line of Fresh Cell Technology products was introduced about a year ago. I liked the Intelligence Shampoo I was already using from Arbonne, so I didn't try the new FC5 Shampoo right away. But I am so glad I finally tried it!! I initially tried it because the price was good, but I am still using it every time I shampoo because I love it. First of all, it smells wonderful. I have been trying for over a year to put a name to the scent. The best I've found is "Easter!" I know! But it's floral and citrus and wonderful. It sudses up just fine--but not so much you have to wonder what is in it! It cleans my hair well without using much shampoo at all. But it does not strip my hair. I use the FC5 Conditioner too and really like it as well. But I've forgotten the conditioner a couple times and my hair was still manageable. This is my new regular, everyday shampoo and I would definitely recommend it. This fantastic shampoo leaves my hair soft and smelling great. It has a fresh kiwi scent that isn't overpowering. For those of you with guys in your house, you will appreciate that the scent isn't too "girly". My 17 year old son tried it and wasn't bothered by the scent at all. The fact that the price is lower than Arbonne's previous shampoo doesn't hurt either. — 3 months ago

I figured I should try this since the reviews are great and I have a friend that started selling Arbonne. You don't need a lot of this shampoo for it to work, it doesn't lather like other shampoos. My hair felt a lot more clean than it typically does after using this. Left no residue, and rinsed out very easily! Nice light scent

Given the state of today’s economy and the numbers of women who’ve been laid off, more women than ever are leaving traditional careers and starting their own businesses from home.
Professional women have plenty of options when deciding to go into business for themselves – but more of them are taking a serious look at network marketing and direct selling companies as their new career path.  What’s the appeal?
There are plenty of reasons, and if you’d like to recruit these aces into your team, you’ll want to understand what’s motivating them and be sure to highlight these benefits in your recruiting conversations!

Here are the top 10 reasons women are leaving the corporate world for network marketing and direct sales: 

1.     Tired of the Corporate Grind. In the 70’s and 80’s, many women loved their new-found independence and the opportunity to slip on a suit and drive off to a swanky corner office. But today’s savvy gal is just as happy to pull on comfortable yoga pants and skip the commute altogether. Instead of tolerating office politics and glass ceilings, professional women are falling in love with the opportunity to be their own boss, have control over their schedules, and no limits on their annual income.
2.     Craving More Work-Life Balance. For most women, competing in the corporate world has meant sacrificing many things, the hardest being any semblance of balance in their lives. The internet has cut these costs even further; no need to spend a lot of money to fill your garage with product. Customers can buy directly from the company, from anywhere in the country with the power of the internet, without you having to spend any of your own money upfront.
7.     Cool Rewards and Incentives. Unlike many corporations, network marketing companies make a huge effort to recognize and reward their distributors. They value you and your contributions, and aren’t afraid to show it.  Incentives are offered at every level of business development – and hey, what woman doesn’t love to be showered with cash bonuses, jewelry, exciting trips, and even cars – just for ‘doing your job’ and making a great income in the process?
8.     Bye Bye Glass Ceiling. Sad, but true – women in most professions are still being paid less than male employees, in similar positions. Although progress has been made in some areas, the proverbial “glass ceiling” is alive and well in corporate America.
